Iron Selection:

The more traditional-looking of the two new M-series irons, TaylorMade M5 irons package the Speed Bridge concept into a compact and refined shape.

While they are in the game improvement category, TaylorMade M5 irons are aimed at players with a mid-range handicap. But they are primed to attract better golfers too, offering more playability than their M6 counterparts but still providing forgiveness while maximising the yards gained out on the course.

The long irons in the M5 iron set (4-7) are equipped with high-density tungsten inserts to drop the CG and optimise launch trajectories, while a revised angle on the M5 irons’ leading edge makes for a crisper interaction with the turf at impact.

M5 irons have a thinner topline, narrower sole and less offset than the M6 model.

True Temper XP 100 steel shafts or graphite Mitsubishi Tensei Orange shafts are the stock options for TaylorMade M5 irons.

INCREASED BALL SPEED WITH SPEED BRIDGE

A revolutionary component called a Speed Bridge has elevated the new TaylorMade M5 and M6 irons to unprecedented levels of performance, backed up by incredible feel. New Speed Bridge gives the most flexible thru-slot Speed Pocket generating more ball speed than ever before. Stiffer head structure provides higher ball speed, as less energy is lost at impact. Ultra-thin face design and Inverted Cone Technology delivers high ball speed over the entire club face.

The new Speed Bridge runs the length of the back cavity and links the irons’ topline with the rear bar. It beefs up the strength and rigidity of the topline to direct previously wasted energy back to the ball at impact, which means extra distance becomes a welcome reality.

The Speed Bridge is also responsible for enhancing the feel of the new irons. It connects to the topline of the M5 and M6 irons at the very point where peak vibration occurs, in order to suppress it and provide the elusive soft-yet-solid feel that is so sought after by golfers.
